DESIGN YOUR [neighbor] HOOD©

A Seattle Art Museum teen program, Design Your ‘Hood© (DYH) was a multi-session intensive workshop focused on art, urban design and community change. Teens were challenged to re-envision their communities and design a public space that will enhance their neighborhoods and or the city in a way that is meaningful to young people, residents and/or visitors.

Participating youth went on site visits to business and organizations such as Microsoft, Olson Kundig Architects, Seattle’s Office of Arts and Cultural, and worked closely with makers and designers who make decisions that pervade our everyday experiences. The culminating projects challenged these brilliant young designers to transform their learning environment and to create a teen friendly project for their school, streets, and the Seattle Waterfront.
